  1. That’s what the sky looks like from my sister in law’s and my brother’s backyard in Salem, Oregon. They are surrounded by fires, and the next village to the south (16 miles away) is evacuated now. This is an enormous disaster on the entire west coast. They are still hoping that the fires will be under control soon.

Horrific! I saw a report where an official was advising everyone to have their evacuation kits ready, to flee at a moment’s notice. I hope they stay safe.
But still some people deny the climate is changing. The conversations about forest management with those who’ve lived there for thousands of years seem to be just starting now (I don’t live there so I could be wrong). I hope solutions can be found, and implemented.

      • Oregon is usually a region with comparatively many rainfalls. However, they did not have any rain for the last four months, which made the woods into a tinderbox. Climate change again. I really hope that they will not lose their house, but their lives are more important.
Most people, I think, acknowledge climate change now, they just don’t agree about the underlying cause.
There have been two periods of global warming during the last 2000 years, one particularly strong one in the 1500s, which is generally known in science circles. It seems that the earth moves through cycles of global warming based on its movement around the sun and the tilt of its axle. there was a third factor, which I have forgotten. All three are factors on which we have no influence.
Pollution on the other hand ……
