“All Seasons in Movement” it’s a project I started cultivating soon after the end of the first lockdown.
Not having a clear idea of what it was going to be about, I started modeling the clips I was collecting into something that describes and summarizes that choice I made 11 years ago and has been leading my life ever since.
This is NOT a parkour video. It’s more of a documentary. About transitions in life. About growing and evolving. About dedication to a movement practice, which is not a linear process. Instead it cyclically passes through phases and regions – in which it will be mainly up to you how long to stay, once you’ll get on them again -.
As well this is NOT just about movement. It’s also a tribute to some of the people that are making this experience still meaningful. It’s a tribute to magnificence and poetry of nature, for which us – humans – started crafting art on purpose of imitating such beauty.
The result is a product so intimate and precious to me that I am even afraid to share it.
Enjoy.
Chapters list:
▲ I – Primeval KAOS 00:10 : the source of everything. The original fire of motion, the burning freedom of youthness with the desire of growing and grasping everything that our lives and bodies are offering us, with no plans and just a few rules.
▼ II – FERMATI 03:20 : Three different situations drawing a triangle at the immediate end of the lockdown. Fire held back by water. Willpower tested by frustration. Sore muscles barely used for months & rarefied skills to regain in what was easy in other times. The true nature of the challenge, a painful question: should I stop?
● III – fool’s paradise 05:30 : “A state of happiness based on a person’s not knowing about or denying the existence of potential trouble.” . Fragile balances in transition, from full to empty spaces, in the midst of uncertain times. A child’s play that seems dangerous: secretly hiding pure awareness?
■ IV – Humus 08:40 : “The emptiness is irradiated by the light of the heart and of heaven.
The water of the sea is smooth and mirrors the moon in its surface.
The clouds disappear in blue space; the mountains shine clear.
Consciousness reverts to contemplation; the moon-disk rests alone.” Empty Infinity – The Book of Consciousness and Life (Hui Ming Ching)
