The trial highway will be made out of magnetic cement.

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), in partnership with Purdue University, has signed up to the ASPIRE (Advancing Sustainability through Power Infrastructure for Road Electrification) initiative. Funded by the National Science Foundation, it aims to create new charging technologies for electric vehicles of the future.

INDOT and Purdue are working together with German firm Magment to test if the company’s magnetized cement will be capable of charging moving vehicles at more than 200 kilowatts. According to Autoblog, the special cement is made of magnetic particles with “record-breaking wireless transmission efficiency” of up to 95%. […]
