  1. In German it is Truthahn, hooting cock.

    In Danish it is called “kalkun”, an abbreviation of “chicken from Calikut (India)”.

    I think the name Indian chicken or calikut chicken stems from Columbus who wrongly thought he had arrived in India, when he went ashore in America.
