This was shot in Lake Conjola on the south coast of NSW, Australia. Located a little south of where I live, this small community was absolutely devastating to visit. Entering through the main road I saw burnt vehicles, scrap and destruction still being collected that was yet to be cleared months after the fires ended. Driving a little further and you start to see all the homes that were destroyed, completely flattened.
I shot a few rolls of Kodak Aerochrome just before covid19 hit, focusing on regrowth in the trees clashing with slower pace of manmade rebuilding efforts along the NSW south coast region.
I’ve created a virtual exhibition to fund raise for the Australian bushfire rebuilding and relief efforts that are still sorely needed. I feel like a lot of the families and people that lost their homes (over 3,500) have been largely forgotten about. Some of them are still living in caravan parks. I’d like to share that with you all virtually through Minecraft! (That was the funniest and most novel way I could think of.) Please visit if you have a copy, but if you don’t there’s a video tour on my website.
Robert Walwyn is another NSW photographer that I discovered was shooting a similar project on aerochrome. He’s kindly submitted his photos to appear in the exhibition too (look out for his sick xpan aerochrome photos.)
I’ll be selling prints and donating all profits to local charities.
