If toward the end of your life your mind was fading away, would your favourite songs help bring your memories back? Subscribe to ABC Science YouTube π https://ab.co/2YFO4Go
Catalyst takes you inside an extraordinary new program which is revealing that personalised playlists can re-awaken the brains of people with advanced dementia and even allow people with severe Parkinson’s to unfreeze and move.
Along the way we look more deeply at the power of music in all our lives – why is it so emotional, so memorable and so powerful that even when much of the brain is gone, music can bring it alive?

This is in line with the other post of yours, you know, the one where they had measured the brain activities in “normal” mode, listening to musik, and playing music oneself. That made a strong impression on me, as it seems that one could prevent dementia with at least listening to music, but even better, playing music.

Yes, looking at the effect playing has on people of all ages playing and dancing to samba, I think it’s rejuvinative!
