I was surprised that the bird had feathers when it hatched and open eyes. Aren’t they usually naked and with closed eyes? But maybe that is for the nest hatchers.

I’ve no quail expert knowledge. I just thought the idea worth sharing (even though I understood most supermarket hens eggs to be unfertilised [not all]).

It was definitely worth sharing! I think the caged chickens’ eggs are unfertilised; I am not so sure about ecological eggs or “free running eggs” as they say here in Denmark. What a pity that quails only live for two years.
