Yes the pedants are correct, the Manchester Bee is not anatomically a bee. It’s a mythological symbol at best like the Liver Bird. Or just a jazzy fly. But it’s also evolved over time and I think it’s time it evolved once again.

I don’t agree with him though on the bee not being a symbol of Manchester. The people of Manchester chose it to be their symbol, and in my eyes it is saying something about them. They pulled together after tragedy struck and didn’t let what happened split them up, instead they rallied under this strong, positive symbol.
