People are continuing to leave messages of support and solidarity at the vandalised mural of Manchester United and England footballer Marcus Rashford.
The artwork in Withington, Manchester, was defaced following England’s defeat by Italy in the Euro 2020 final.
Rashford said he was “on the verge of tears” when he saw the mural had been covered in supportive messages.

The behaviour of some of the British football fans was below all expectations. First against the Danish team, and then against their own team when they lost against Italy. A group of people like that gives Britain a bad reputation. I mean the British footbball fans already have a bad reputation. I am so glad to hear that Marcus gets messages of support after all the negativity!

Though numerous they aren’t the majority (and I think that’s part of the reason for their belligerence). But the rest of the world will recall the negative more easily… Moreover those in power think it politically expedient to pander to them…

Yes, the negative is always displayed more readily than the positive. Fanatics of all kinds are usually not the majority, but they are noisy. There are also many people, who will judge an entire nation/race after meeting only one specimen, good or bad.

Yes I’m often surprised by how many other drivers will expect the worst of me when I’m driving a white hire van!
