We have been busy preparing for the biggest parade of the year here in my home city of Manchester, The Manchester Day Parade. Modelled on American and Irish events it aims to celebrate the communities, diversity and creativity of the people and communities of the city in a parade around the centre and this is it’s 4th year. It’s sponsored by Manchester City Council and organised by Walk The Plank.
We made all our costumes from scratch to a design by one of our dancers Lauren Moore in limited time to a tight budget. The design was realised by our technical expert David Mason in a series of workshops I organised at our base Sacred Trinity Church as well as some work at Walk The Plank’s WOW workshops on New Elm Road a short distance away.
