Orwell’s Warning: The Insidious Nature of Political Language

Imagine waking up in a world where words no longer mean what they appear to. A place where language, the very tool we use to communicate and understand reality, is twisted to obscure truth and manipulate thoughts. This unsettling scenario is not a dystopian fiction but a reality shaped by doublespeak—a deliberate distortion of language to deceive and control. In this essay, we will examine the insidious power of doublespeak, exploring how skilled manipulators use doublespeak to alter our perception of reality, making “lies sound truthful and murder respectable.” The dystopian nightmare of George Orwell’s work 1984, may be closer upon us than we realize.

Is graphene starting to live up to its hype?

When graphene was first isolated in 2004 the so called “super material” was meant to change the world. The material has remarkable properties – it is 200 times stronger than steel, transparent, extremely light, flexible and also exhibits excellent electrical conductivity. Twenty years on it is starting to live up to the original hype and is being incorporated into a wide range of materials and products.

RAZOR’s Reya El-Salahi traveled to Cambridge to meet Prof. Sir Colin Humphreys, Co-founder and CSO of Paragraf, one of the first companies in the world to mass produce graphene-based electronic devices. Founded with Dr. Simon Thomas and Ivor Guiney in 2018, after a breakthrough they made at the University of Cambridge, the company now produces enough graphene to make 150,000 electronic sensors a day.

Graphene was first isolated by the University of Manchester’s Prof. Sir. Andre Geim and Prof. Sir. Konstantin Novoselov. Manchester has become the UK’s home of Graphene and 2D materials research. Opening the National Graphene Institute in 2015 and the Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre – known as the ‘GEIC’ in 2018. Apart from electronics, graphene is mostly incorporated into another material to lighten and strengthen it. It’s been used in building materials such as concrete, consumer products such as plastic bottles and in trainers, and also in the automotive and aerospace industries.

The Cascara Controversy Explained by Dr. Steffen Schwarz

Cascara has long been hailed as the next big thing in coffee.

But due to issues with food safety concerns, we still haven’t seen a wave of cascara products roll over the market.

This will probably change very soon as the EU has just legalized cascara.

And perhaps cascara is just the beginning; there is in fact a range of promising products that can be made from the coffee plant.

In this video, I talk to Dr. Steffen Schwarz of the Coffee Consulate in Germany about the future of coffee byproducts.

The Truth About Liberica Coffee | Interview: Dr. Steffen Schwarz

Dr. Steffen Schwarz of the Coffee Consulate in Germany has more than 20 years of experience in the industry.

He is both a researcher, consultant, coffee trader, and an entrepreneur.

In 2019 he arranged the world’s first Liberica coffee roasting championship and expo in Borneo.

Read more about his work here ➡ https://coffee-consulate.com/en/

Liberica coffee accounts for less than 1% of commercial coffee production. Today it’s mainly grown in Malaysia and the Philippines.

Around 1870 it was taken from Liberia in West Africa and planted in other parts of the world. Initially, it was believed to be a potential Arabica rival. However, due to leaf rust it was more or less abandoned by 1895.

Some Liberica trees have survived in the wild until now. After more than 120 years in relative obscurity, the coffee world is starting to rediscover Liberica coffee.
