When looking at a case of pastries in a bakery it’s usually possible to intuit what something might taste like because of its familiar shape or color. Such is not the case with these radically unusual cake designs by Ukrainian pastry chef Dinara Kasko (previously) whose experimental techniques result in edible objects unlike anything we’ve ever seen. Most of her creations would look just fine sitting on a pedestal inside a contemporary art museum, but surprisingly everything you see here is completely edible. Kasko actively works math into her creations, incorporating principles like the Voroni method or utilizing 3D modeling and printing to create different cakes or silicone molds. […]

Onboard the UK’s First Battery Electric Train!

In this special episode of The Everything Electric Show, we take you on an 18-month journey behind the scenes of the development and deployment of the UK’s first battery-electric train. Join Imogen as she follows the incredible progress of the Great Western Railway team, from designing the innovative shoe gear charging mechanism, to conducting fast-charging tests at Long Marston, and finally seeing the train in operation at West Ealing.

Whether you’re a fan of sustainable transport, electric trains, or cutting-edge green technology or all of the above, this episode is a wonderful insight into the future of rail travel. Enjoy! ‪@EverythingElectricShow‬ ‪@fullychargedshow‬ ‪@GWRUK‬ ‪@ChrisWatkinsMedia‬

Why is India Building a $6BN Giant Barrier?

Why is India spending billions to build a massive barrier on the Godavari River? Known as the Polavaram Project, this $6BN engineering marvel is designed to solve critical issues in water management, irrigation, and energy supply. Stretching over 3.7 kilometers (2.3 miles), the Polavaram Dam is one of the longest dams in the world and a transformative project for the state of Andhra Pradesh and beyond.

In this video, we dive deep into the history, construction, and impact of the Polavaram Project. From its initial concept in 1941 to the modern engineering feats it showcases today, we’ll explore how this massive barrier aims to irrigate over 719,000 acres of farmland, generate 960 MW of clean energy, and revolutionize water management in southern India. But with challenges like the displacement of thousands of families, ecological concerns, and political hurdles, the project’s journey has been anything but smooth.

Join us as we compare Polavaram to other iconic water projects, like the Hoover Dam and China’s Three Gorges Dam, and uncover what makes this project so significant.

What do you think? Will the Polavaram Dam finally become a reality in the next five years? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
