How Earth’s Largest Organism Is Quietly Dying

Driving through Utah’s Fishlake National Forest, you’d never know you just passed through the largest living organism on Earth. No signs. No visitors center. Just what looks like a regular aspen grove.

But Pando—Latin for “I spread”—is actually 47,000 trees connected by one massive root system, all sharing identical DNA. It weighs as much as 40 blue whales and has been growing for at least 16,000 years.

Here’s the problem: this ancient giant that survived ice ages and massive droughts might not survive us. Scientists call it “a town of 50,000 people where everyone is 85 years old”—no young trees to replace the dying ones. And the clock is ticking faster than anyone imagined.

We’ll take you inside the protective fences and across the fragmented landscape to explain why the world’s largest organism is quietly dying—and whether the solutions we’re trying are enough to save it.

Street Art Masterpieces!Brazil. A mural of a boy climbing a painted wooden ladder up a wall filled with colorful books. The book spines are individually detailed. It's a wonderful illusion and hopefully encourages reading! 🤠📚🎒#ArtSky #StreetArt #EduardoKobra #Brazil

Gnossienne n°1 (Satie) – Decostruttori Postmodernisti

Satie’s introspection meets Deconstructivist irony. Here is the most ethereal, contrite and disturbing version of Gnossienne you can imagine…

L’introspezione di Satie incontra l’ironia Decostruttivista. Ecco la più eterea, contrita e a tratti inquietante versione di Gnossienne che si potesse immaginare…

DECOSTRUTTORI POSTMODERNISTI
Four professional musicians combining an astute technical performance with the verve of cabaret. For both a refined and curious ear. Decostruttori Postmodernisti – or if you like, Postmodern Deconstructionists – perform with a piano, violin, cello and a theremin.

Quattro musicisti di professione capaci di unire un’attenta esecuzione tecnica con la verve da cabaret. I Decostruttori Postmodernisti si esibiscono con un pianoforte, un violino, un violoncello e un theremin.

Arrangement: Andrew Harvey

How the world’s biggest bank is bracing for climate catastrophe.

JP Morgan chase recently published a comprehensive climate report which spelled out to its investors how they should be adapting to the coming storm and pointed out all the lucrative investment opportunities a warming planet presents (like melting sea ice & thawing permafrost opening up new trade routes and mining sites, and increasing temperatures providing an uplift to the air-conditioning market. Meanwhile the UK Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, who are financial risk managers, published their own analysis with a very different outlook. This video compares and contrasts the two reports.
